Week 31 - Backlight

Week 30 - Jump

I love images depicting movement: running, dancing, playing and jumping. They are dynamic and make me feel energized just by looking at them.  The facial expressions that usually accompany these types of movements are my favorite.  Not that you can see my son’s facial expression in this week’s picture, but I assure you, it was animated.

I think my Dad’s picture should be titled, “Don’t Jump!”, instead.  These twin brothers are up on a hill, as you can tell by how far down the road looks.  The first brother thought it would be fun to swan dive off the top and the brother behind has quite literally “got his back”, holding him safely there.

Week 29 - Negative Space

Look at the sky in my Dad's shot.  The boys look tiny and insignificant in comparison to the brooding, dark clouds.

Here's a different view conveying negative space, with the road leading right to the boys.

Week 28 - Red, White and Blue

I was excited about this prompt.  I've wanted to try taking fireworks pictures, so when the evening of the 4th rolled around, we all headed outside to unveil the fireworks and enjoy the show.  I powered up my camera, selected my settings, took one picture and then....bam!  My camera battery died.  Kaput!  Now, let me serve as a lesson for you all.  Have an extra (charged) battery on hand for instances such as this because I did not have an extra battery and consequently my picture taking opportunities went bye-bye.

I did end up getting a few pictures of this prompt a few days later, just not of what I had planned on.  Here's Gannon using his hot air and Oreo-covered mouth to create some pinwheel action.

What's more American and red, white and blue than baseball?

Week 27 - Sunset

The sun sets every evening without fail, and yet for some reason, I had the hardest time remembering to take a picture this week!  Consequently, I had to look back a few months for a sunset picture I took while in Oregon.  This is the view from my parent’s front porch.

In my Dad's shot, I love the wheat in focus in the foreground and the sun soft and out of focus in the background.  Shannon called his picture "soft and dreamy" and I have to agree!
