Baby Taysom

My friend, Amber, let me practice taking pictures with her newborn baby, Taysom.  He was such a sweetie pie and a dream to photograph.  Newborn photography is a science and I know nothing at all, but it was sure fun to be able to play and practice with this precious little guy.

Project 52 - Week 23 - Photographer's Choice

I've been practicing with garage light.  I love his smiling face and the catchlights in his eyes.

Mason's Baptism Portraits

This cute neighbor of mine is turning 8 and getting baptized soon. He's silly and adorable and we had a lot of fun taking pictures.

Project 52 - Week 22 - Revisited

This week we were to look back on the previous week's assignments and choose one that we wanted to revisit.  I love detail shots and I SO wish I had a macro lens.  Someday!  Until then, I will settle for close-ups.  I love this girl's freckles!

Katie's Senior Portraits

I can't believe Katie is old enough to be graduating.  She babysat for me when she was younger and not so busy and my boys loved her.  This was my first time taking senior pictures and she was such a great sport!

Project 52 - Week 21 - Friendship

These two are 20 months apart and are as thick as thieves.  Usually, when they are together they look like this...horsing around and cracking each other up.

I Heart Faces Best Faces of 2016 Challenge

I love this boy of mine.  He is the calmest of my 3 boys (hallelujah!) and when I want to practice with my camera, he is always willing and patient.  This image of him captures his zen personality perfectly. Here is my submission for the Best Faces of 2016 Challenge from at I Heart Faces.

Week 8 - Change of Scenery

I never shoot in my kitchen because I've always found more pleasing light in other areas of my house.  But today, some pears and I tried to find the light on my kitchen counter.

Week 6 - Relax

Relaxing for me usually means quiet, but with a house full of active boys, this seldom happens.  My sister, Kaisa, gave me this coloring book for my birthday and I love it.  What's even better is all of my boys love it too and are blissfully quiet as they color.  Logically, I had to get one for each of them.  I literally sigh with relief as they settle in for a coloring session and I relax for a few minutes before the mayhem begins again.

Week 5 - Find The Light

Since starting this project last year, I've learned to spot good light a little better.  My problem though, is knowing what to do with it once I find it!  Lots of trial and error.  Here is Bridger, taking a break from a jam session. ;)

Week 4 - The Four Seasons - Part 1

Finley usually loves the snow, but this morning was a blizzard with snow blowing everywhere and he absolutely refused to go outside.  He spent most of the morning glaring out the window until I finally pushed him out the door so he could take care of his business.

Week 1: Self Portrait

I've decided to do another 52 project.   Seriously, what am I thinking?  Just a week ago I was SO relieved to be finished.  However, I've learned this about myself...I need a project and a deadline to keep me motivated.  And I want to stay motivated in order to keep learning and improving and therefore, I must do another 52.

I gave myself a riveting pep-talk, logged onto the website that was doing the 52 and saw the first assignment...self portrait.  Ugggh.  Noooo!  I had so cleverly dodged the selfie bullet just weeks ago.  I cringe when I see photos of myself and pick out all of my flaws, but I set all my insecurities aside and did it anyway.  After about a gazillion tries, this was the best I could do.  I am SO glad no one reads my blog.

Week 52 - Big

Week 52.  I can't believe I made it the. entire. year.  Phew!

This little darling was in my primary class and turned the big "8".   I love her confidence, ease and sass in front of the camera.
