Week 2 - Silhouette

This was my first time trying to take a silhouette (at least, on purpose!).   My cute nephews, Carson and Dayton, were dueling to the death in a staring contest.  You can't tell because they're in silhouette, but it was quite fierce.

Week 1 - Bokeh

In 2015 (I'm starting a week early), I've committed to do a 52 photo project with my best friend, Heidi.  The idea is to take a picture a week, each time working on a different technique or theme.  Our first assignment was bokeh.  When I asked my boys if they'd be my muse, they ran away screaming. They were laughingly screaming, but screaming nonetheless.  Instead, I harassed Finley.  He's a good ol' sport.  He's always so vivacious and willing. Look at that face! He can hardly wait until Christmas.

Friendship - I Heart Faces Photo Challenge

These brothers have a special kind of friendship.  The kind that is forged with punches, headlocks and lots of laughing.  Here is my submission for the I Heart Faces photo challenge.

Easter

As we were walking home from church today, I asked my boys (ok, let's be real...I begged) them to stay put for 30 seconds while I took a few Easter pictures for posterity.  Just a measly 30 seconds, is that too much to ask? Yes.  Yes, it is.  This is as good as it gets.

The Easter Bunny brought Hayden and Gannon Wonder Looms.  Apparently they are all the rage, and not just for girls.  Most of the afternoon was spent making these rubber band bracelets.

I had to get a picture of Gannon with his mouth hanging open.  This is his usual pose when he is concentrating deeply. :)

Smile - I Heart Faces Photo Challenge

The word "smile" is synonymous with "goofiness" at my house.  It's usually accompanied by giggling and finished off with a quick wrestle to the floor.  With three boys it's inevitable and I just kind of roll with it! I love these crazy boys of mine.

Heart Attack

This is what happens when you leave Bridger alone with a sheet of stickers.  Who can get mad at this face when it's decorated so beautifully?

Hayley's Wedding

I'm still in shock over the fact that my baby sister, Hayley, got married this weekend. How could this be? In my mind, she will always be a curly-haired, rosy-cheeked toddler running around in her diaper, her only accessory being a delicate string of snot precariously perched underneath her nose.  And look at her now.  She's all grown up with no snot in sight!  I love this girl and the gorgeous person she has become - both inside and out.

The wedding was in the Billings, Montana temple.  We woke up to about a foot of snow on the day of the wedding, with a perfectly clear, blue sky.

Congratulations to Dalton and Hayley!

Lights

Having some fun with the Christmas tree lights.

Well, I was having fun. Finley, on the other hand, does not look like he's having fun. The poor dog has no freedom of choice.

An Unfortunate Incident

Mental note to self...never officially make plans to have family photos taken and never, EVER mention these plans out loud, because when you do, you will inevitably have to cancel. It's been over 3 years since we've had family pictures done and I thought it was high time that we did it again. We found a photographer and scheduled a shoot in October.  Then one morning, a week before our pictures, I was greeted by Mr. Sunshine, aka Bridger, and I noticed something was a little "off" with his hair.  It looked as if someone had taken a lawnmower to his head and stopped a few inches in, right down the middle.  There was no mistaking that this was an inside job.  I don't remember the other boys experimenting with scissors, but Bridger is infinitely more curious and likes to do things "himself".  Unfortunately, the only solution to his reverse mohawk was to shave it all off.  Here he is.  He hasn't been this bald since he was a newborn.

I thought baldness would cure him of ever doing it again.  I was wrong.  After a few months of growing his hair back he was overcome AGAIN with curiosity when he came upon my nail scissors lying on the counter.  Perhaps he was curious because the scissors were different.  Was the outcome different as well? Sadly, no.  He had to have his head shaved again, a few days after Christmas.  Some lessons are hard to learn.
